Hi, my name is John Burke. I am a civil engineering graduate from Colorado State University. Over the past 20 years, I have worked in both the public and private sector on a wide variety of civil engineering projects. Currently I am a Senior Projects Engineer for the City of Westminster.
From multi-million dollar projects, strategic negotiations to daily interactions with the public, I have learned that my greatest asset is my ability to build relationships and work effectively with people. These are two essential keys to success no matter what industry you are in.
As the years have passed, I’ve found the most enjoyable projects were less about the actual project, and more about the project team. I haven’t always been the best at developing relationships, but I’ve worked hard and have invested hundreds of hours in personal development to get better.
This blog is dedicated to providing insight into this journey of continual improvement in order to become the go-to person for every project. Whether you’re a consultant wanting to win more projects, or an owner wanting to build effective design teams, my prayer is that you will see the value of this blog and share your personal experiences that you’ve learned along the way.
